"Move Into Nature" is an exercise and mental health program developed by Perth Physiotherapist Diane Pridham
She offers one to one sessions of Exercise in an uplifting Natural Environment in Perth (Western Australia), allowing people to experience the outdoors both for their physical and mental health.
The program is geared towards people who cannot, for whatever reason, experience the wonders of nature, and who wish to improve their fitness, mobility and sense of well-being.
Situations which may prevent people from enjoying nature include:
- chronic pain;
- mobility issues;
- lack of transport, or loss of confidence using public transport;
- anxiety and/or depression;
- recent surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy;
- social isolation;
The Session consists of the following:
1. Pick-up from your home;
(within 15 km of the Perth CBD)
2. Transport to a park, lake, or local bushland;
3. 60 minutes of walking, therapeutic exercises and/or guided relaxation;
4. Tea or coffee;
5. Transport back home;
The structure of the hour is flexible, depending on your requirements - if it is a nice sunny day and the birds and flowers are out, a long nature walk may be all you do. Diane is a keen amateur photographer and naturalist and will be able to point out things of interest along the way.
Sessions are $85 for pensioners and $95 for non-pensioners
Mobile EFTPOS is available
Because the sessions involve therapeutic exercise and advice, under the guidance of a qualified physiotherapist, you can claim from your Health Fund. EPC is accepted, however this service is not covered by DVA or worker's compensation.
